Save the Date: 9-12 June, 2016
After a tour around the 4-star hotel and world trade center meeting space, The Seaport Hotel, and a seafood dinner on the pier I woke up to a rainy morning in Boston on Monday June 15th. After my usual extra strong, double espresso and 40 push-ups, as the WCIO 2016 Program Chair, I was ready to kick off a marathon meeting with a stellar group of dedicated IO experts and the WCIO staff.
Our goal was to assess WCIO 2015: what went well and what didn’t. Review comments and see what can be improved.
The challenge: develop a program that will surpass a super-successful conference in New York City, a challenging task to say the least. Our sleeves rolled up and our noses to the grindstone we managed to complete the entire 2016 preliminary program draft. The rainy weather was our ally as flight delays for over 2 hours allowed us to stay working well past 5:30 pm. When we eventually took a breath and a good look at the new program I felt proud and excited.
Together the group came up with great ideas which resulted in so many new features, from a dedicated Y90 course, to daily multidisciplinary tumor boards and IO focused research sessions, the 2016 program is the richest ever. This innovative group of IO professional that make up the scientific program committee delivered programs and sessions that included numerous new faculty, many from Boston, a pool of internationally recognized leaders and pioneers in practically every field of Oncology. Those in search of high quality IO education can expect the best next June in Boston.
The location and the program will be awesome – See you in Boston!
